Selly Pharmacy is independently owned and run by Maria and Sushil, business partners and joint owners with over four decades of pharmacy experience between them.

Selly Pharmacy sits on Bristol Road in Selly Oak, a stone's throw from the University of Birmingham campus and at the heart of the Bournbrook community. We are independently owned and proudly so, by two pharmacists who have spent their careers learning what good community pharmacy looks like, and what makes it different from the alternative.
The pharmacy at this address has been a fixture on Bristol Road for years, previously trading as Allied Pharmacy and, before that, Jhoots Pharmacy. Under previous owners, it changed hands a few times. We know some of you have had mixed experiences. Our intention is straightforward: to be the kind of pharmacy you'd recommend to your mum, your housemate, or your neighbour. Reliable. Welcoming. Properly resourced. Open the hours we say we're open.
Maria and Sushil identified the need to get closer to the students whilst maintaining their closeness to the community, and decided to introduce Selly Pharmacy to the campus. Selly Pharmacy in Campus is a private pharmacy delivering an innovative model of healthcare for students, as well as a targeted retail offer for students.
Our brand new second branch is now open in the heart of the University of Birmingham, inside the University Centre. It is a modern, purpose built pharmacy designed around the way students and staff live today: quick to pop into between lectures, easy to message, and staffed by the same friendly Selly Pharmacy team you know from Bristol Road.
No need to leave the university for everyday health needs. Find us in the University Centre, behind Costa Coffee, opposite the Co-op. Open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

Message us on WhatsApp, nominate us for electronic prescriptions, and access some NHS services remotely when clinically appropriate.

Maria and Sushil run Selly Pharmacy as joint owners and pharmacists, bringing complementary backgrounds and a shared commitment to honest, considered community care.
Maria comes from Santiago de Compostela in Spain, and brings over 22 years of experience serving the Birmingham community. Proud to support the University of Birmingham and the wider Selly Oak and Bournbrook community, Maria offers trusted advice with a warm, personal approach.
Passionate about people and wellbeing, Maria is here to support you every step of the way. Outside of work she enjoys hitting the gym and spending time with friends.
Sushil brings over 20 years' experience in pharmacy, including time as a senior leader at LloydsPharmacy. He has led private healthcare services across the country, including large-scale flu vaccination programmes, and worked with MASTA Travel Health delivering corporate vaccination services at scale.
As Superintendent Pharmacist at Selly Pharmacy, Sushil is responsible for clinical governance, professional standards, and the safe operation of the pharmacy. His background in scaled private healthcare services informs the breadth of what we offer locally.

Prescriptions ready when promised. Delivery times honoured. Phone calls returned the same day. The basics, done properly, every time.
Some things are best handled by a GP, A&E, or NHS 111. We'll tell you when, refer you on, and follow up. We'd rather you got the right help than the wrong service from us.
