About Meningitis B
Meningococcal disease is rare but can be life threatening. Teenagers and young adults, especially students living in shared accommodation, are at higher risk.
The MenACWY vaccine offered to students does not protect against MenB. The MenB vaccine is usually given as two doses at least a month apart for teenagers and adults.
Who it is for
- Students starting or at university
- Teenagers and adults who did not receive MenB as a baby
- Anyone who wants extra protection
How it works
- Book online and complete the health pre-screen
- Receive your first dose at Bristol Road or on campus
- Return for your second dose at least a month later
Good to know
- Know the signs of meningitis and sepsis. Vaccination does not protect against every type.
- A sore arm, headache or mild fever after vaccination is common.
- Check whether you are eligible for any NHS MenB offer before booking privately.
