Birmingham CCG funds free NHS emergency contraception for many patients through participating community pharmacies. We offer this service. You may be eligible for the free NHS route based on age and circumstances — we will check at the consultation.

After 120 hours, the most effective form of emergency contraception is a copper IUD fitted by a GP or sexual health clinic.

We do not fit copper IUDs at the pharmacy. For this, contact your GP or Birmingham sexual health services. The IUD is the most effective form of emergency contraception, especially after 5 days.
