About Hepatitis B
Hepatitis B is a virus that affects the liver. It is spread through blood and body fluids, and can cause long term liver problems.
The vaccine is usually given as a course of three doses over several months. Faster schedules may be possible if you are travelling soon.
Who it is for
- Travellers to countries where hepatitis B is more common
- Healthcare, medical, dental and nursing students before placements
- People whose work or lifestyle puts them at higher risk
How it works
- Book online and complete the health pre-screen
- Receive your first dose at Bristol Road or on campus
- Return for the remaining doses as scheduled
Good to know
- Keep a record of your doses, as you may need proof for work or study.
- Some employers and universities provide this vaccine free, so check first.
- A sore arm is the most common side effect.
